Talking Heads

«Talking Heads é uma banda musical surgida em Nova Iorque (EUA), no dia 8 de Setembro de 1974, em meio ao movimentos punk e new wave. Liderada pelo guitarrista e vocalista David Byrne, a banda ganhou notoriedade por fundir o rock com inúmeros ritmos, inclusive os africanos.David Byrne nasceu em Dumbarton, Escócia, no dia 14 de Maio de 1952, e além do trabalho com o grupo, compôs trilhas para artistas como Twyla Tharp e Robert Wilson, nomes da dança e do drama respectivamente, além do filme “O Último Imperador” (de 1987, realizado por Bernardo Bertolucci) pelo qual ganhou um Oscar. Também dirigiu o filme “True Stories” (de 1986) e produziu diversos álbuns de música caribenha e brasileira (incluindo trabalho com Tom Zé e Margareth Menezes), notadamente “Rei Momo” (de 1989) e um vídeo documentário sobre o candomblé chamado “The House of Life” (também de 1989).A banda nunca fez muito sucesso na mídia, só conseguindo o seu primeiro Top 10 em 1983, "Burning Down the House", do álbum "speaking Tongues". Apesar disso, a turnê desse trabalho, intitulada "Stop Making Sense" (lançada em DVD) é considerada uma das melhores da história do rock.Os dois trabalhos postados aqui são, na minha opinião, os melhores da banda:"Fear of Music", lançado em 3 de agosto de 1973, alcançou o 21º posto na Billboard Pop Albums e tem como destaques "Life During Wartime", "I Zimbra" e "Cities"."Remain in Light", lançado em 8 de outubro de 1980, alcançou o 19º posto na Billboard Pop Albums; 4º na 100 Greatest Albums de 1980, da Billboard Magazine; 126º na 500 Greatest Albums of All Time, da mesma revista, e tem como destaques "Crosseyed and Painless", "Born Under Punches" e "Once in a Lifetime".»
