«Amy-Jade Winehouse (Londres, 14 de Setembro de 1983) é uma cantora e compositora de soul, jazz e R&B do Reino Unido.

Biografia:

Winehouse nasceu numa área suburbana de Enfield, Londres, numa família judaica de quatro elementos com tradição musical ligada ao jazz. Seu pai, Mitchell Winehouse, era motorista de táxi e a sua mãe, Janis, farmacêutica. Amy tem ainda um irmão mais velho, Alex Winehouse.
Cresceu no subúrbio de Southgate e fez os estudos na instituição de ensino Ashmole School. Por volta dos dez anos, Winehouse funda uma banda amadora - e de curta vida útil - de rap chamada "Sweet 'n' Sour, as Sour". Ela descreveu a banda como sendo "the little white Jewish Salt 'n' Pepa" ("a pequena Salt 'n' Pepa judaica").
Ganhou a sua primeira guitarra eléctrica aos 13 anos de idade e por volta dos 16 anos, já cantava profissionalmente ao lado de uma amiga cantora de soul, Tyler James.
O seu álbum de estreia, "Frank" (2003), foi indicado para o Mercury Music Prize. Em 14 de fevereiro de 2007 ela ganhou um Brit Award por Melhor Artista Feminina Britânica entregue pela Baby Spice, Emma Bunton.
O seu segundo álbum, "Back to Black", foi o disco mais vendido de 2007 no mundo inteiro.
Durante o EMA 2007, Amy recebeu um prémio surpresa: Foi feita uma votação entre os artistas de mais destaque nesse ano para saber qual o artista que merecia ganhar, tendo sido Amy a mais votada. Artistas como Rihanna, Chris Brown e Fergie disseram que ela merece uma vez que é original, tem uma voz incrível e um ritmo único.
Foi nomeada para seis Grammys pelo álbum Back to Black, o mais vendido na Grã-Bretanha ano de 2007 com 1,8 milhão de cópias, e mais de 1 milhão de cópias nos Estados Unidos.
Ultimamente tem-se debatido, juntamente com o seu marido, com problemas relacionados com drogas, tendo várias vezes tentado ultrapassar o vício em clínicas de desintoxicação. Os tabloides britânicos elegeram-na como alvo preferencial, destronando deste modo Pete Doherty (líder dos Babyshambles) como junkie mais famoso da Grã-Bretanha.»
