«The Police é uma banda inglesa de pop rock formada em meados da década de 1970, com influência dos gêneros new wave,punk rock e reggae. Liderado pelo baixista e vocalista Sting, contava ainda com o baterista Stewart Copeland e o guitarrista Andy Summers. Na década de 1980 tornou-se uma banda cultuada por um grande público e lançou grandes sucessos na mídia, como Roxanne e Every Breath You Take.
The Police foi formado pelo baterista americano Stewart Copeland em meados de 1977, depois do fim da sua banda de Rock-Progressivo Curved Air, Copeland estava pronto e ansioso para formar uma nova banda que tivesse influencia com o Punk que estava florescendo em Londres Juntando o Vocalista Baixista Sting e o guitarrista Henry Padovani começaram a gravar. Em Janeiro de 1977, eles gravaram seu primeiro single “Fall Out”/”Nothing Achieving,” The Police, junto com o The Clash é lembrado como uma das primeiras bandas da Ingleterra a adotar o Reggae em seu estilo musical. Andy Summers só entrou mais tarde no grupo.»
